Firecracker with Nicky Taylor - 3 months program I should start by saying I didn’t grow up playing sports or being very concerned about nutrition because I was naturally... read more small framed but I got closer to my mid 20s and into my 30s, I put on weight like anyone does. I would try to work out, joined a gym for a while but never knew which exercises to do or if I was doing them properly so I always stuck to the cardio machines and never actually worked out consistently. I started working out on and off with Nicky in November 2020 when she offered Zoom classes during the pandemic because I wanted to feel stronger and more balanced when horse riding. It was the first time in my life (at almost 30!!) that I felt comfortable working out and asking questions about form as opposed to other group classes experiences where I felt I was supposed to already know how to workout. In December 2020 I broke my shoulder and tried to get back into working out while rehabbing my shoulder, then in October 2021 I got shingles (Virus that affects the nerve system) in my face and eye and when the doctors told me it was triggered by low immune system and stress, I knew I had to take better care of my body. That’s when I heard about the Firecracker Program! I had never wanted to commit financially to a workout program because I knew I’m the type of person to get excited and go all in and then give up because I’m too exhausted. Nothing ever really stuck. I felt comfortable going into it with Nicky because I knew the type of person she was and the way she views working out, which aligns with what works for me! We are at the end of the 3 months program now and it is the longest in my life I have been able to sustain exercising in a healthy way! Nicky helped me look at how I fuel my body and how important it is to eat enough protein (I eat mostly a plant based diet), she also helped me realize that going all in is not sustainable in the long run and I should schedule rest days for progress to come. She’s helped me understand that fluctuations in energy levels are normal and it doesn’t mean everything is doomed and that you should give up, maybe do something a little less intense that day! I now stand up straighter than I ever have (upper body workouts for the win!), my body feels and looks like what I imagine myself looking like and I don’t even weigh myself anymore because I feel good and it’s all that matters. I know what good form is and even find myself adding little exercises on my own after a recorded workout with Nicky. I feel much more capable in all aspects of life than before, too, that’s always nice! I’ve loved having Nicky to talk me through it all when I was frustrated or feeling low and would have otherwise given up. She is so friendly, kind and willing to make things work for each individual. I feel like we are real life friends now even though we are so far away! I would definitely recommend this program!

Nicky is a godsend! I have been gyming/weight training for a while now but have always avoided barbell squats. 15 mins into my first session with Nicky I was squatting... read more confidently and comfortably, even upping the weight - something I never thought would happen! Nicky also taught me how to utilise my long thigh muscles to their full potential, and holy moly could I feel them the next day. I left feeling so confident that the following week I managed to do a full set of barbell squats!
